RadioControl Overview
RadioControl is a modular 32-bit Windows application for controlling communications
receivers and amateur radio transceivers. Starting with the Standard Edition, multiple
radios can be controlled simultaneously. Its Windows compliant user interface allows
intuitive operation. The functionality enfolds the ability to control the radios directly,
management of frequencies and memory channels, various scan and search methods and a
frequency search with graphical spectrum view.
Additional device-specific features are the labeling and resizing of memory banks, editing
of pass channels and deletion of memory channels in the radio device. Starting with the
Professional Edition, the radio device internal scanner can be used for scan and search
operations and the functionality of RadioControl can be extended and customized by adding
external modules (so-called plug-ins).
The range of supported radios includes AOR (AR-5000, AR-8200,
AR-8600 etc.), Icom (IC-PCR100, IC-PCR1000 and
all CI-V compatible radio devices like IC-R20, IC-R8500,
IC-R9000, IC-703, IC-706MKIIG, IC-756PROIII,
IC-7400 etc.), Kenwood (TH-F6A, TH-F7E),
Rohde & Schwarz (EB200), Yaesu and WiNRADiO.

via the Windows clipboard.
RadioControl Document Types
Note: With document types, the kinds of files that RadioControl can create
and edit are meant.
- RadioControl Frequency Database
In a RadioControl Frequency Database, all known frequencies can be stored together with
additional information. In a way, it is the electronic equivalent of traditional
frequency lists or books in paper form. Each record can store up to 20 parameters with
each frequency, e.g. description, step, mode, IF filter, service, channel,
transmission area, ATT, CTCSS.
The whole database can be filtered by these 20 parameters or searched
for a frequency, description, service and/or channel.
The RadioControl Frequency Database is a Microsoft Access 2.0 database. Therefore, it
can be used with other applications too, e.g. to link it with other databases or to
create reports based on its data.
- RadioControl Memory File
RadioControl Memory Files store frequencies that should be uploaded into the internal
memory of a radio device or act as a memory-replacement if a radio device is not
equipped with an own internal memory. Each memory channel can store up to 17 parameters
with each frequency, e.g. description, display text (alphanumeric text that should be
shown in the radio's display), mode, IF filter, ATT, CTCSS.
The contents of a RadioControl Memory File can be uploaded to a radio device.
In addition, the download of memory channels from a radio device into a RadioControl
Memory File is possible too. The downloaded memory channels can be modified later on
or the RadioControl Memory File can be saved as a back up of the radio's memory on the
hard disk of the computer.
The memory channels of a RadioControl Memory File can be scanned by using the
RadioControl-internal scanner which runs in the background (thanks to
multithreading).
In addition, it also logs the most recent activity on each memory channel. This memory
scanning feature is very convenient because it does not require an upload of the memory
channels to a radio device before they can actually be scanned. Also, it adds value to
radio devices that are either not equipped with an own internal memory and/or scanner
or do not allow the computer to access the one or the other.
- RadioControl Frequency Search Document
RadioControl Frequency Search Documents on one hand store all parameters necessary for
execution of a frequency search and on the other hand store the frequencies that
have been found when a frequency search has actually been executed. A comfortable
wizard helps you to specify all necessary search parameters and will immediately start
the frequency search later on, if desired. All or only some of the found frequencies
can be easily transferred to a RadioControl Frequency Database or Memory File.
The found frequencies will be shown in a table view with description, signal strength
(in S-Meter units and dB), hit count and date and time of the last hit. The description
of the frequency will be retrieved by using the
Frequency Identification Feature.
In addition, the found frequencies are displayed in a spectrum view which is equipped
with a zoom-function. The displayed spectrum can be saved as bitmap file or copied to
the Windows clipboard.
The frequency search runs in the background (thanks to
multithreading).
This allows you to continue to work with the application while the frequency search is
active. For example, you can create or modify other documents or access another radio
device via the Frontpanel, while searching for frequencies.
