RadioControl is available in following product editions:
RadioControl Trial Edition - try before you buy
The Trial Edition gives you the possibility to get an impression about RadioControl
before you buy it. This edition can be used for a certain time period and has some
limitations. For example, it is only possible to install and operate one radio device and
RadioControl Frequency Databases are limited to 120 and Memory Files to 20 items.
As the primary intention of the Trial Edition however is to give you the possibility to
get to know RadioControl and the philosophy behind it, these limitations should only play
a minor role for the evaluation phase.
RadioControl Lite Edition - the cost-effective entry edition
The Lite Edition offers you the following functionality (desired by many users) at a very
good price-performance ratio:
Installation and control of one radio device. Note: As all non-optional device drivers are part of the RadioControl
Lite Edition and will be installed by default, you can change the currently installed
radio device very easily. Just uninstall the currently installed radio device in
RadioControl and install another one.
Direct control of the radio device via the so-called Frontpanel.
Use of the various frequency search functions of the Frontpanel.
Copying of the current VFO data of the radio device opened in the Frontpanel to the
Windows clipboard. Note: You can paste the data into a RadioControl Frequency Database or
Memory File or even into another Windows application later on.
Creation of an unlimited number of RadioControl Frequency Databases, Memory Files and
Frequency Search Documents. Note: As all of these RadioControl documents are based on files, it is very
easy to share them with other users, even if they do not have the same radio device.
Storage of up to 250 frequencies per RadioControl Frequency Database.
Storage of up to 100 memory channels per RadioControl Memory File.
Scan of the memory channels of a RadioControl Memory File by using the
RadioControl-internal scanner. Note: This feature is especially of interest for radio devices that are not
equipped with an own internal memory and scanner (e.g. ICOM IC-PCR100 and IC-PCR1000
and the WiNRADiO WR-1xxx and WR-3xxx Series) or when the device-internal memories
and/or scanner cannot be accessed from the computer (e.g. ICOM IC-R10 and IC-R20,
AOR AR-3000A).
Execution of frequency searches. In addition, the search parameters as well as the
found frequencies can be stored in a RadioControl Frequency Search Document. Note: The frequencies will be shown in a table and in a graphical frequency
spectrum. In other words, you will get a
low-end spectrum analyzer too.
Comfortable editing of the pass channels (aka. skip frequencies) of your radio device,
if supported by the radio device.
Deletion of memory channels in your radio device, if supported by the radio device.
Qualification for an upgrade to the Standard or Professional Edition.
The Lite Edition is therefore a perfect addition to any computer controllable radio device
and the best choice for people that are new to the world of computer-aided radio operation
with its exciting and numerous possibilities.
RadioControl Standard Edition - for advanced demands
The Standard Edition has the following features, in addition to the features of the
Lite Edition:
Installation and control of more than one radio device
simultaneously; theoretically up to 65,535 radio devices.
Storage of an unlimited number of frequencies per
RadioControl Frequency Database.
Storage of an unlimited number of memory channels per
RadioControl Memory File.
Use of your RadioControl Frequency Databases and Memory Files with any of your
installed radio devices, thanks to radio device independent
data storage. Note: All items in a RadioControl Frequency Database or Memory File will be
stored independently of a concrete radio model and therefore can be used with
every radio device that is supported by RadioControl. In fact, the Lite Edition
has that functionality built-in too, but that feature comes to
its full potential only when multiple radio devices come into play. And, as far as we know, no other software offers that
feature!
Editing of the label and size of the radio device internal memory banks. Note: Currently, that is possible for the AR-8200 and
AR-8600 (label and size) and IC-R8500 (label only).
Qualification for an upgrade to the Professional Edition.
The Standard Edition will be best suited for people/governmental organizations/companies
using more than one computer controllable radio device and/or wanting to manage many
frequencies and in turn creating several Memory Files out a frequency database (e.g. one
for every geographical region).
RadioControl Professional Edition - for special demands
The Professional Edition has the following features, in addition to the features of the
Standard Edition:
Use of the radio device internal scanner for frequency search operations initiated by
RadioControl.
Scan of the radio device internal memory channels by using the radio device internal
scanner.
Extension of RadioControl's functionality by so-called plug-ins. Note: This allows the development of plug-ins for virtually every purpose
(e.g. decoding of signals or maintenance of the amateur radio logbook). This makes RadioControl an universal platform for
radio applications!
Because of the plug-in functionality, the Professional Edition is also best suited for
governmental organizations and companies that want to integrate RadioControl into their
software environment. For example, other applications have the possibility to access
RadioControl (and therefore the installed radio devices) by using the industry standards
Microsoft COM and OMG CORBA.
